Honda Pilot vs Grand Cherokee L: stretch
Honda Pilot
The Honda Pilot can accommodate seven or eight people in its three rows, with the second row captain’s seats limited to the top trims. The passenger compartment is spacious, and cargo space ranges from 16.5 cubic feet behind the third row to 82.1 to 83.9 cubic feet with all seats folded down.
A 3.5-liter V6 producing 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque pairs exclusively with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Smooth and powerful enough, the V6 tows up to 5,000 pounds with all-wheel drive. Fuel economy is good with combined EPA ratings of 23 mpg (FWD) and 22 mpg (AWD).
The Pilot is capable and comfortable but not particularly sporty, although handling is secured in part by the torque vectoring technology of the AWD system. Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control are standard.
The 2022 Pilot is available in EX-L, Special Edition, Touring, Elite and Black Edition trims. The front-wheel drive 2022 Pilot EX-L comes with features like leather seats, power sunroof, hands-free power tailgate, 8-inch screen audio system, Apple CarPlay / Android Auto integration and headlights. LED.
Since the base EX and LX versions have been discontinued (for now), the nearly $ 40,000 EX-L is the entry point. But Honda promises a new, cheaper base model that will come later. At the top of the line, the Black Edition is available in black or white pearl paint to go with black wheels and exterior trim.
Jeep Grand Cherokee L
Jeep has added third row seats to the Grand Cherokee for 2021. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L is 15.1 inches taller than the standard model and rides on a longer wheelbase of 7 inches. It is even smaller than the Jeep Wagoneer.
The premium cabin can accommodate six or seven people with the optional second row bench seat. The second row is spacious, the third is walkable. Cargo space is 17.2 cubic feet behind the third row, increasing to 84.6 with all seats folded.
Standard power comes from Chrysler’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 producing 293 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear or all-wheel drive. A 5.7-liter V8 developing 357 horsepower is optional only on the top-of-the-line model and increases towing capacity from 6,200 to 7,200 pounds. The combined EPA fuel economy is 21 mpg for the V6 and 17 mpg for the V8.
The Grand Cherokee L offers three different 4WD (4WD) systems. Available Quadra-lift air suspension can increase ride height up to 4.2 inches (for maximum ground clearance of 10.2 inches), and an all-terrain package includes an electronic limited-slip differential and plates protection.
The Grand Cherokee L is available in Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve trim levels. A 10.25-inch digital dashboard is standard and the center touchscreen has an 8.4-inch or 10.1-inch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. Leather is on everything except the base model. Heated front seats, heated steering wheel and power tailgate are optional on Laredo and standard elsewhere.
Standard driver aids include adaptive cruise control (with lane centering for the Summit), forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning.
