Over two dozen stores coming to Midland Commons

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – More than 88 acres will house two dozen new retail stores. Arby’s and Popeyes are already open, but they won’t be the only dining options. Some dining options will be adjacent to the new eight-acre Publix.

“We’ve got great music videos, their lashes are going to go, the AT&T store is going to go, a nail salon is going to go, then you’ve got Domino’s, then jersey mics,” Chris Wightman said.

On the other side of the development, where the amphitheater is located, there will be stores for shopping, and in addition to retail stores, there will be Lofts. Developer Chris Wightman says they also want to bring bars to the area to give it that downtown feel.

“We would like to bring downtown there to Midland, and you have a lot of people saying they don’t want to drive downtown. They don’t want to compete with college kids and the military, so we ended up doing that here,” Chris Wightman said.

Wightman says the amphitheater will be available for concerts in the spring, summer and fall.

“You can expect to see a lot of country music on this stage, that’s what the people we’ve talked to about renting here, that’s what they want to see,” Chris Wightman said.

Area residents will soon see a liquor store, Synovus Bank, Urgent Care Clinic, Advanced Auto, Jiffy Lube, Culvers and Dunkin Donuts. A resident of the neighborhood says he is delighted to see the arrival of these new stores.

“I like it because it saves gas and time. I like it and I’m ready for it.

Developer Chris Wightman says Phase 1 should be complete by mid-January or early February, with more stores coming.
